The Case for Global HSR

Updated: 1 day ago

The World is Onboard.....

.....It takes more than 10 hours to drive the 635 miles (1022 kilometers) from Nanjing to Beijing in Mainland China. By airplane, your flight time would be around two hours, but you would need at least another 90 minutes at each end to get to, through and from the airports — so air travel takes about five hours. Instead, you choose to board the Fuxing Hao high-speed train in Nanjing at 8:13 a.m. arriving in Beijing at 11:36 a.m. just three hours and twenty-three minutes later. On the train you complete a presentation, read a report and attend a virtual workshop. In Beijing, you conduct an interview, have a business lunch and then catch the 3:00 p.m. train back home. You complete your working day onboard and arrive in Nanjing at 6:35 p.m. in plenty of time for dinner.......

Download this report published by AECOM. It makes a compelling argument. We just need to make such technology more bankable, slicker in time to seek upfront powers, consents, approvals, and more capital friendly to make it a win for investors, society, and our 'dying' planet.
